Even though I’ve been a Northern Virginia resident for most of my adult life, I have never had a chance to visit Frederick, Maryland, a charming town that’s just about an hour’s drive north of where I live. When I finally decided to make the trip, I googled to see if there are any cool bookshops in Frederick, something I do with almost every town I plan to visit. To my excitement and happiness, Curious Iguana immediately popped up in my search. Reading the shop’s website, I found out that the bookstore belongs to Marlene and Tom England, owners of Dancing Bear Toys and Gifts also located in Frederick.

Curious Iguana opened in September 2013 and has quickly become a popular literary gathering place for book lovers – both locals and tourists (like me). The pretty bookshop along with its extensive diverse collection of books and knowledgeable, friendly booksellers make browsing at the Curious Iguana a delightful experience.

I arrived at the bookstore on a rainy evening, just about an hour or so before closing to film the shop for the Book Lovers Series. Luckily, I got it all done minutes before the Curious Iguana had to close. Can’t wait to come back soon because this lovely bookstore deserves many frequent visits.
